Barrie Food Bank
Peter Sundborg was appointed Executive Director of the Barrie Food Bank in June of 2011. Since taking on this new challenge, the food bank has moved to a new larger 10,000 sq ft facility, has introduced new branding, launched a new website, engaged in social media and through the amazing support of the community, churches, schools, businesses and service organizations has doubled food donations over the past 5 years. While serving close to 32,000 people in this past year Peter is grateful to have surrounded himself with a strong board, an amazing staff and several hundred very hardworking and dedicated volunteers. Peter is very committed to working towards a “Community Where no One is Hungry”.
The Barrie Food Bank began in 1984 as an amalgamation of church based services. The desire was to consolidate efforts in a central location for assisting those individuals and families in need.
It is the mission of the Barrie Food Bank to provide temporary food relief to individuals and families of our community who are in need, and to serve as a resource to guide them along the road to self sufficiency.
A Community Where No One is Hungry.
Independence and self sufficiency
